Bitcoin peaked at $85,166 on Monday morning, representing its strongest price point since January 29. The leading cryptocurrency posted gains exceeding 5% across a 24-hour period and has recorded positive sessions in four of the last five trading days.
This upward momentum continues a recovery trajectory that started when Bitcoin approached $75,000 on September 15. The asset reclaimed the $80,000 level on Friday before breaching $85,000 on Monday.
Strategy provided additional momentum through company-specific news. The Bitcoin-focused treasury operation revealed it had resumed cryptocurrency acquisitions following a nearly three-week hiatus.
Strategy Adds 950 Bitcoin to Treasury
Strategy acquired 950 BTC during the period spanning September 14 through September 20, spending approximately $75.7 million. The company paid an average of $79,670 per Bitcoin when accounting for associated fees and transaction costs.
This latest acquisition elevated Strategy’s aggregate Bitcoin reserves to 846,000 BTC. The company’s total acquisition cost now stands at roughly $63.8 billion, with an average entry price of $75,416 per coin.
Based on Monday’s Bitcoin pricing near $85,000, Strategy’s holdings carried a market value of approximately $72 billion. This valuation translates to unrealized gains exceeding $8 billion at current market prices.
The company financed this purchase using USD Cash reserves rather than issuing new equity. Strategy abstained from selling any MSTR shares through its at-the-market offering program during this timeframe.
Strategy simultaneously repurchased approximately 1.77 million STRC preferred units for $174 million. The company concluded the period maintaining around $5.04 billion in its USD Reserve alongside $1.05 billion in USD Cash.
Crypto-Related Stocks Rise on Bitcoin Momentum
Bitcoin’s rally generated positive momentum across cryptocurrency-exposed equities ahead of Monday’s market open. Coinbase shares advanced approximately 5.3%, while Robinhood posted gains around 5%.
Strategy had already recorded a 16.4% weekly gain before Monday’s premarket surge. Shares closed Friday at $153.92 as Bitcoin accumulated roughly 5.3% over the corresponding weekly timeframe.
The cryptocurrency’s broader rally has persisted despite recent challenges including the Clarity Act’s collapse and a Federal Reserve interest rate adjustment. Regulatory developments have featured temporary SEC exemptions designed to facilitate certain tokenized-stock trading activities.
Short position liquidations have contributed to the upward movement. Data from CoinGlass referenced by The Block indicated over $750 million in cryptocurrency liquidations across 24 hours, with approximately $648 million stemming from short positions.
Despite Monday’s eight-month peak, Bitcoin remains significantly below its October 2025 all-time high near $126,000. Current pricing represents approximately 33% below that record level.
Strategy’s most recent disclosure confirms Bitcoin holdings at 846,000 BTC following its first acquisition since August’s conclusion. The enterprise maintains over $6 billion combined across its USD Reserve and USD Cash positions.
