Bitcoin pushed beyond the $81,000 threshold on Monday as cryptocurrency markets maintained their recovery trajectory alongside gains in Asian equity markets.

The leading cryptocurrency posted gains of nearly 1% across a 24-hour period, building on momentum that gained traction following U.S. regulatory approval for certain onchain tokenized stock trading activities.
Market analysts also identified forced liquidation of short positions as a contributing factor to Bitcoin’s weekend price movement.
BTC Maintains Position Above $81,000
Bitcoin remained firmly positioned above $81,000 throughout Asian trading hours as market participants responded to improved risk appetite globally.
Asian stock markets posted gains following constructive comments from U.S. officials regarding ongoing trade negotiations with China, particularly ahead of an anticipated meeting between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping.
Futures contracts for U.S. equities also trended upward, with Nasdaq 100 futures demonstrating stronger performance compared to S&P 500 futures.
Brent crude declined approximately 2% to settle slightly above $101 per barrel, representing its fourth straight session of losses.
The retreat in oil prices provided some relief regarding inflation pressures, while Treasury futures similarly posted advances.
Jeff Mei, Chief Operating Officer at BTSE, attributed Bitcoin’s weekend rally to both the SEC’s regulatory decision on tokenized securities and a substantial short squeeze event.
Market focus now shifts to upcoming statements from Federal Reserve officials in anticipation of the central bank’s late-October policy meeting.
NEAR Protocol Rallies on Cross-Chain Activity
NEAR Protocol emerged as one of the top-performing major digital assets, climbing roughly 23% to reach levels just above $4.
The significant price movement came alongside surging activity on NEAR Intents, a cross-chain functionality enabling users to exchange assets across multiple blockchains without manually bridging funds between different networks.
Multiple wallet providers, including ZODL and Vizor, have incorporated this feature to facilitate Zcash trading capabilities.
Daily Zcash transaction volume processed through NEAR Intents expanded approximately six times during the previous seven-day period.
Zcash demonstrated modest gains of about 3%, trading above the $1,500 level.
BNB increased around 2% to approach $777, while both Ether and Hyperliquid posted similar 2% advances.
XRP, Dogecoin, Solana and Tron registered more modest increases of 1% or lower.
Spot Bitcoin ETF Demand Rebounds on Final Trading Day
U.S.-based spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds concluded the previous week with $6.2 million in aggregate net inflows.
The weekly figure was salvaged by Friday’s robust $433 million influx, representing the strongest single-day performance since September 3.
Fidelity’s Bitcoin ETF captured $310.7 million of Friday’s investment flows, with BlackRock’s offering contributing an additional $108.4 million.
During earlier trading sessions that week, these investment vehicles experienced substantial redemptions, including $450.3 million in outflows on Tuesday and $296 million on Wednesday.
Bitcoin ETFs continue to show year-to-date net outflows of approximately $1.45 billion, though cumulative inflows since their initial launch total $55.16 billion.
Ethereum ETFs demonstrated contrasting performance.
These products registered roughly $140 million in weekly redemptions, terminating a four-week streak of positive inflows that had accumulated $1.94 billion combined.
Bitcoin begins the current week trading above $81,000 as market participants track ETF capital flows, Federal Reserve policy signals and whether the strength observed in NEAR Protocol and other alternative cryptocurrencies persists.
