Apple’s September 9 fall presentation showcased an impressive array of innovations, with the spotlight on the iPhone Duoāthe corporation’s inaugural foldable smartphone carrying a $1,999 price tag.
John Ternus, the company’s newly appointed CEO, commanded the stage at his maiden launch presentation following his official succession of Tim Cook in the previous week. Ternus, who previously served as Apple’s senior vice president overseeing hardware engineering, characterized the iPhone Duo as the company’s “most slender” iPhone iteration, remarkably integrating a substantial 7.6-inch interior screen alongside a 5.4-inch exterior display.
The innovative Duo device enables users to seamlessly maintain functionality during transitions and repositioning while facilitating effortless application switching. Integration with Apple Pencil technology is scheduled for release within the coming months. Pre-ordering commences October 16, with general market release following on October 23.

Premium Pricing Strategy for iPhone 18 Pro Series
The entry-level iPhone 18 Pro carries a $1,199 price point, while the Pro Max variant commands $1,299. These figures represent a $100 elevation compared to the iPhone 17 Pro lineup’s inaugural pricing of $1,099 and $1,199.
Apple has implemented multiple pricing adjustments across its MacBook portfolio throughout this year. Former CEO Tim Cook previously communicated to the Wall Street Journal that additional cost increases were “inevitable” given escalating memory chip expenditures. The artificial intelligence-fueled shortage of memory and storage components has persistently influenced pricing across the company’s entire product ecosystem.
The latest Pro variants operate on the advanced A20 Pro processor, delivering enhanced CPU performance, superior GPU capabilities, and an upgraded neural processing engine.
Power management receives significant improvements as well. The iPhone 18 Pro delivers 24 hours of operational capacity, while the Pro Max extends performance to 30 hours.
Photography capabilities advance through a variable mechanical aperture system that captures approximately 50% additional light in low-illumination conditions.
The Dynamic Island interface on Pro variants now accommodates simultaneous display of three active notifications.
Artificial Intelligence Features Dominate Announcement
Apple Intelligence technology permeates the latest iPhone generation. The enhanced virtual assistant, rebranded as Siri AI, delivers contextual responses from message and email content, employs camera technology for environmental interpretation, generates email drafts through voice commands, and transitions between varied vocal expressions.
Apple Intelligence extends into Safari browser functionality, enabling webpage monitoring with automatic change notifications.
Siri AI becomes available in English this month, with additional language support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish arriving in October. Complete Apple Intelligence functionality will ultimately encompass 16 languages.
An innovative capability dubbed “Apple Reference Images” enables authentication of photographic origins, distinguishing camera-captured images from AI-generated content.
Additional previews included “Siri Recap” for the updated Apple Watch, offering conversation summaries, and “Live Rewind,” allowing users to review the preceding 15 seconds of dialogue. The company emphasized that no audio recordings are generated or retained.
The iPhone division contributed $209.5 billion toward Apple’s aggregate $416.1 billion revenue total throughout 2025.
