Bit2Me has transformed its operational focus by partnering with European law enforcement bodies and institutional clients. The Madrid-based platform facilitated the conversion of roughly 1.5 million euros, equivalent to $1.76 million, in cryptocurrency seized by authorities such as Interpol, Europol, and Spain’s national police throughout 2025.
Law Enforcement Partnership Model Takes Shape
The platform assists government agencies in converting confiscated digital assets into traditional currency. Through Chainalysis blockchain intelligence solutions, Bit2Me tracks fund movements, monitors asset origins, and executes liquidation procedures for seized holdings. This collaboration with public sector entities represents a strategic component of the exchange’s broader institutional service framework. Bit2Me currently caters to financial institutions, banks, governmental organizations, and individual traders, creating multiple revenue channels.
Institutional partnerships generated 27% of Bit2Me’s total income during 2025. The platform recorded €5.3 billion, approximately $6.24 billion, in transaction volume this year, marking an eight-times surge from 2023 performance. Bit2Me enables trading across more than 300 cryptocurrencies and delivers enterprise-grade custody solutions. Lloyd’s underwrites the custody infrastructure with €150 million in insurance protection. The shareholder roster features Tether, Bankinter, and Telefónica.
MiCA Authorization Unlocks Cross-Border Opportunities
Securing compliance under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto Assets framework required Bit2Me to invest approximately €2.5 million and dedicate roughly 3,000 labor hours. Spain’s financial regulator CNMV issued the exchange a Crypto-Asset Service Provider credential encompassing custody operations, trading platforms, and transfer mechanisms. This regulatory approval enables Bit2Me to utilize EU passporting privileges for service delivery throughout member states. Portugal stands among the priority markets the company identified for near-term expansion activities.
Bit2Me established its relationship with Chainalysis during the early 2020s. This alliance provides the exchange with advanced tracking capabilities and surveillance systems essential for regulatory adherence and law enforcement collaboration. A comparable framework operates in American markets, where the U.S. Marshals Service engages Coinbase for custody and potential disposal of confiscated digital assets. Bit2Me’s institutional growth demonstrates how licensed exchanges evolve beyond standard trading operations as governments and banking entities expand their digital asset utilization.
This operational evolution also diminishes Bit2Me’s dependency on retail transaction fees, which fluctuate with market conditions. By developing regulated custody capabilities, law enforcement partnerships, and institutional infrastructure, the exchange constructs a diversified business architecture as MiCA establishes unified regulatory standards throughout European Union jurisdictions in 2025.
