The facility will ultimately deliver 165 megawatts of computing capacity through a phased deployment beginning with 50 megawatts. Major AI Computing Campus Planned for South Savo Region
Cerebras has entered a strategic partnership with Compute Nordic Finland to establish the high-capacity computing facility in South Savo. Both organizations executed service agreements featuring seven-year terms covering each development phase. This framework secures sustained capacity for Cerebras while enabling systematic infrastructure deployment across Finland.
Initial deployment will deliver 50 megawatts of capacity, followed by expansion to 80 megawatts in subsequent phases. The partnership ultimately targets 165 megawatts of contracted IT infrastructure at the Mikkeli location. This incremental approach aligns construction timelines with confirmed computing requirements and client delivery commitments.
Compute Nordic assumes responsibility for facility development, operational management, client engagement, and project oversight across the campus. Cerebras will leverage this infrastructure to broaden availability of its wafer-scale computing platforms throughout international territories. The initiative also strengthens European computing capacity amid surging global requirements for advanced AI processing capabilities.
Advanced Design Emphasizes Resource Efficiency
The partnership developed the Mikkeli site with focused attention on minimizing water usage and maximizing energy efficiency. Closed-loop cooling technology will recycle water continuously rather than consuming ongoing municipal water resources. The assessment anticipates between 80 and 250 permanent direct positions when the campus achieves maximum capacity. Annual property tax contributions are projected between €0.8 million and €2.5 million for local municipalities.
Cerebras and Compute Nordic anticipate sustained employment spanning operations, engineering disciplines, network administration, security functions, and facilities management.
