TLDR
- The White House is expected to host crypto and prediction market executives on August 19.

The White House is expected to host executives from the cryptocurrency and prediction market industries on August 19 as Washington prepares for another round of talks on digital asset regulation. Executives from traditional financial firms may also attend, although the final guest list and agenda have not been confirmed.
President Donald Trump’s attendance also remains uncertain. The planned gathering comes as crypto companies continue pushing Congress to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, while prediction market operators face questions over federal and state oversight.
White House Crypto Meeting Comes Before CFTC Session
The timing places the White House meeting one day before the Commodity Futures Trading Commission holds the first meeting of its Innovation Advisory Committee on August 20. The three-hour session will begin at 1 p.m. in Washington and cover cryptocurrency regulation, artificial intelligence, and prediction markets.
The committee includes executives from major crypto and financial companies, including Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan, Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour, Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss, and Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev. Representatives from Nasdaq, CME Group, Franklin Templeton, and other established financial firms are also members.
The CFTC’s crypto session will examine the lack of a broad federal market structure framework, overlapping regulatory responsibilities, and ways existing rules could be updated using authority the agency already has. The agenda also includes cybersecurity, market infrastructure, and customer protection.
The committee is advisory and will not vote on a new crypto regulation during the meeting. Its role is to provide recommendations to the CFTC on technology, financial markets, and regulatory policy.
Prediction Markets Get Separate Regulatory Discussion
Prediction markets will receive their own 50-minute session during the August 20 meeting. The discussion is scheduled to cover event contracts, federal and state jurisdiction, recent legal actions, and rules governing exchanges that list prediction products.
The agenda also includes market surveillance, manipulation concerns, and customer safeguards. These issues have become more prominent as platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi expand their event-contract businesses while facing separate challenges from state and local authorities.
The White House meeting therefore brings crypto and prediction market executives together shortly before regulators hold a public discussion covering many of the same policy areas. However, no official announcement has confirmed whether the August 19 gathering will produce proposals or policy commitments.
CLARITY Act Faces September 15 Senate Test
The meetings come while the CLARITY Act remains pending in the Senate. Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed cloture on the motion to proceed with H.R. 3633 before lawmakers left Washington for the August recess.
The Senate schedule states that the cloture motion will ripen at 2:15 p.m. on September 15. Reaching cloture would move the chamber toward considering the bill, rather than automatically passing it, with debate and further votes still required.
