TLDR
- World Liberty Financial postponed the Trump Maldives resort token sale.
- The offering had been scheduled to launch this spring.
- The Iran war disrupted regional travel and contributed to the delay.
- The token was designed to provide investors with revenue tied to resort financing.
- No new launch date has been announced for the token offering.
World Liberty Financial has delayed the planned token sale linked to the Trump International Hotel & Resort in the Maldives as the US-Iran war disrupts regional travel. The offering had been scheduled for this spring, but no new launch date has been announced.
The token was designed to give eligible investors access to revenue generated from loans used to finance the Trump-branded luxury resort. Bloomberg reported that travel disruption tied to the Iran conflict contributed to the postponement, putting one of World Liberty Financial’s first major real-world asset tokenization projects on hold.
World Liberty Financial Postpones Maldives Token Sale
World Liberty Financial announced the tokenization project in February in partnership with luxury real estate developer Dar Global and tokenization platform Securitize. The companies planned to tokenize loan revenue interests connected to the resort rather than sell direct ownership stakes in the property.
The planned structure would allow investors to receive revenue tied to financing for the development. World Liberty Financial presented the project as an early part of its wider strategy to bring real-world assets onto blockchain networks through regulated digital investment products.
The offering targeted accredited investors and was expected to provide a fixed yield alongside a portion of loan-related revenue. The token therefore represented an investment linked to the resort’s financing rather than ownership of individual villas or equity in the hotel itself.
The launch has now been pushed back without a replacement date. World Liberty Financial has not announced when subscriptions could begin, while the resort development itself remains scheduled for completion later this decade.
Iran War Disrupts Travel Around Maldives Resort Project
The delay follows travel disruption across the broader region caused by the continuing Iran conflict. Such conditions have created uncertainty for airlines and travelers moving through major Middle Eastern transit hubs used by international passengers heading to destinations including the Maldives.
The decision affects the timing of the token offering rather than confirming any cancellation of the underlying resort. Dar Global continues developing the Trump International Hotel & Resort Maldives in partnership with the Trump Organization.
The project is expected to include roughly 100 luxury beach and overwater villas and is scheduled for completion in 2030. Earlier descriptions of the development had placed it among the first Trump-branded hospitality projects to incorporate blockchain-based financing from the development stage.
Dar Global has continued its work with the Trump Organization while reviewing development schedules against changing market and regulatory conditions. The delayed token sale has not resulted in a publicly announced change to the resort’s planned opening schedule.
Maldives Resort Forms Part of World Liberty’s RWA Strategy
World Liberty Financial has been expanding beyond its existing crypto products by exploring tokenization of traditional assets. Its plans have included real estate and other financial assets that can be represented through blockchain-based investment structures.
The Maldives project was positioned as an initial example of that approach because the token would connect blockchain investors with revenue from a physical real estate development. Securitize was selected to provide tokenization infrastructure while Dar Global remained responsible for developing the resort.
Amid the reports, World Liberty Financial’s WLFI token traded near $0.0583 on Friday as investors monitored developments around the delayed Maldives resort token project. The latest move puts WLFI above the $0.0580 level that had recently acted as short-term resistance.

Consequently, the next area to watch sits near $0.0642, while a reversal could bring attention back toward support around $0.0530 to $0.0542. A deeper decline below that range would place the previous multi-month support near $0.0506 back in focus.
