Ethereum experienced a 2.4% decline on August 13, sliding from a session peak of $1,918 down to $1,872. The pullback occurred as market participants took profits following the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) announcement, eliminating ETH’s earlier momentum.

The July inflation figures revealed headline CPI increased 0.1% from the previous month and 3.4% compared to last year. Core CPI climbed 0.2% monthly and 2.5% on an annual basis. These numbers met analyst forecasts precisely, providing no catalyst for sustained upward movement.
ETH had advanced prior to the announcement, touching approximately $1,918 before encountering selling activity. After breaking below the $1,887 mark, limited order book depth facilitated a swift descent to the $1,872 zone.
Bitcoin maintained its position around $64,000 following the release, demonstrating that the inflation data failed to significantly influence appetite for leading digital assets.
