The PUMP token from Pump.fun has experienced notable strength throughout the past week. Over a seven-day period, the asset gained more than 30%, with a single-day increase of approximately 18%, bringing the trading price to around $0.001983. The token’s market capitalization currently stands at about $779.88 million.

The surge in daily trading activity paints an equally compelling picture. Volume exploded by more than 512% within a 24-hour period, climbing to $164 million. This dramatic increase signals genuine market demand rather than superficial price movement.
A significant catalyst behind this momentum was the public disclosure by crypto influencer Ansem of his $1.5 million PUMP token acquisition. According to CoinGecko, the token’s price increased by over 23% following Ansem’s publication of his investment rationale. Previously, analyst Kaff had suggested that PUMP’s core metrics ā including approximately $1ā2 million in daily platform revenue and a price-to-earnings ratio around 1 ā were insufficient to drive significant price action independently.
On July 20, cryptocurrency analyst BATMAN observed that meme coins have begun attracting renewed market attention following weeks of subdued trading activity. BATMAN highlighted that PUMP had successfully recaptured a critical support threshold and emphasized that increased meme coin deployment on the platform directly correlates with elevated activity levels and revenue generation for Pump.fun.
Strategic Buyback Program Offsetting Token Unlocks
Pump.fun has implemented an extensive token buyback initiative. The platform has allocated approximately $410 million toward repurchasing PUMP tokens and has permanently destroyed 151.1 billion tokens, effectively removing over 15% of the total initial supply from circulation.
The buyback program operates at an average daily rate of roughly $400,000, translating to approximately $12.85 million on a monthly basis. This figure closely aligns with projected monthly token unlocks for team members and early investors, estimated at around $12 million.
Analyst Ali Charts highlighted on X that approximately 82.5 billion PUMP tokens entered their initial major insider unlock phase during July. Following a one-year vesting cliff, tokens allocated to team members and early-stage investors valued at roughly $125 million became eligible for liquidation. The ongoing buyback program has been effectively neutralizing much of this potential selling pressure.
Chart Analysis and Platform Activity
PUMP successfully escaped a prolonged consolidation range between $0.00140 and $0.00170 that had persisted for multiple weeks. The price briefly exceeded $0.0020 before experiencing a modest retracement.
Currently, the token is positioned comfortably above its 20-day simple moving average at $0.00159 and its 50-day SMA at $0.00153. The Relative Strength Index registers at 68.30, nearing but not yet entering overbought conditions.
Successful token launches on the platform have provided additional momentum. Jimothy the Raccoon (JIMOTHY) experienced a 186% surge and generated more than $36 million in trading volume, contributing to elevated activity throughout the Pump.fun ecosystem.
Since inception, Pump.fun has accumulated approximately $1.2 billion in total revenue and facilitated over $800 million in SOL sales through its token launchpad infrastructure.
