Revolut has integrated artificial intelligence assistants into its cryptocurrency trading platform, Revolut X, enabling users to conduct trades and oversee their portfolios using everyday language. The compatible AI tools include Anthropic’s Claude, Google’s Gemini, OpenClaw, and Cursor.
This functionality empowers users to obtain portfolio overviews, access real-time market information, establish personalized price notifications, and execute both market and limit orders — all accomplished without directly launching the Revolut X application.
The system supports access to over 300 digital assets listed on the exchange.
Origin Story
The initiative originated as an in-house exploration. Revolut’s engineering team linked Claude to the Revolut X API in approximately half an hour. This rapid prototype generated a functional market-making system that handled inventory oversight, price quotation, trade execution, performance tracking, and alert notifications.
The underlying technology utilizes Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), initially launched in November 2024, which builds upon Revolut X’s established trading API infrastructure.
The company has also made available a GitHub repository featuring universal setup compatibility for over 50 AI applications. Users on alternative platforms can access a command-line interface option.
Leonid Bashlykov, crypto product lead at Revolut, commented: “AI agents provide us with much faster workflows, smarter execution, and tighter integration with the tools we use daily to trade.”
Practical Application
Users can articulate trading concepts in everyday language. For instance, requesting a Bitcoin grid strategy backtest spanning the previous 90 days generates historical performance metrics, risk assessments, and optimization findings.
Traders can additionally configure Telegram alerts that activate when a particular cryptocurrency reaches a specified price threshold — accomplished entirely through conversational instructions rather than technical setup.
Programming skills are unnecessary.
Revolut mandates that users examine and authorize each transaction prior to execution. The platform explicitly declines accountability for financial losses or mistakes resulting from AI tool usage.
Crypto operations are delivered by Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd., which holds licensing from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission under MiCA framework.
Revolut serves more than 75 million retail clients and exceeds 16 million cryptocurrency users globally.
Broader Industry Movement
Revolut isn’t pioneering this alone. In April, Gemini introduced agentic trading capabilities, enabling users to link Claude and ChatGPT to their accounts through MCP — positioning it as the inaugural deployment of this technology on a regulated U.S. cryptocurrency exchange.
Liquid unveiled a real-time trade execution system driven by ChatGPT and Claude. Robinhood has similarly indicated intentions to introduce crypto-centered agentic trading across the United States.
Revolut X debuted in May 2024 as a desktop-exclusive platform for UK traders. The service extended to 30 European territories in November 2024 and released a mobile application for UK and EEA customers in March 2025.
In related developments, Revolut confirmed it will remove Tether’s USDT by August 31, 2026, referencing compliance obligations under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulatory framework.
