Nationwide XRP Trading and Payment Functionality Goes Live
Rakuten Wallet has activated XRP spot trading functionality inside its mobile platform. The service allows users to purchase, sell, and store XRP through an intuitive interface.
The platform enables instant conversion of Rakuten loyalty points into XRP. This capability merges digital currency holdings with the company’s established rewards framework.
According to Rakuten, “Users can seamlessly move from points to XRP without external transfers.” The system eliminates complications between rewards programs and cryptocurrency transactions.
Additionally, XRP can now be used for purchases at more than five million participating merchants throughout Japan. Transactions rely on QR code scanning through the Rakuten Pay infrastructure.
The service provides XRP functionality to 44 million active Rakuten Pay accounts. This connection amplifies the cryptocurrency’s presence within a substantial retail marketplace.
Rakuten Wallet indicated that the service debuted as an Android early access program. An iOS version is scheduled for release soon.
Points-to-Crypto Conversion Enhances XRP Practical Use
Rakuten’s platform currently maintains over three trillion loyalty points in active circulation. This reserve represents approximately $23 billion potentially available for XRP conversion.
Account holders can transform these points into XRP and transfer them to digital wallets. These converted funds become immediately available for merchant transactions.
Ripple’s development division, RippleX, commented on the launch. The team noted, “This marks one of the largest retail deployments of XRP to date.”
The system links cryptocurrency holdings with routine consumer spending through integrated payment channels. It also minimizes complexity between digital assets and commercial applications.
Rakuten Wallet has introduced an incentive program to onboard new XRP traders. Users purchasing ¥30,000 worth of XRP qualify for ¥500 in XRP bonuses.
Those acquiring ¥100,000 or more receive ¥1,500 in XRP rewards. These promotional benefits remain active throughout the campaign duration.
The platform postponed its original XRP integration timeline but executed a successful launch today. Company representatives confirmed that technical infrastructure performed according to specifications.
