Microsoft’s M12 venture division champions the public debut of Dreamspace on Coinbase’s Base Layer 2 network. This innovative platform transforms user descriptions into fully functional applications equipped with smart contract capabilities. Space and Time provides the secure data foundation supporting the builder, with beta users having already produced over 34,000 applications.
M12 and Space and Time Collaborate on Dreamspace Foundation
The venture capital arm of Microsoft, M12, champions Dreamspace’s transition from beta to full public availability on Base Layer 2. This backing comes as the application builder moves beyond its testing phase. Users can input their application concepts and receive fully operational products featuring integrated smart contract functionality.
Base serves as the operational foundation for this platform, functioning as a Layer 2 solution operated by Coinbase. The underlying data architecture gains protection from Space and Time’s infrastructure. Back in 2022, Microsoft spearheaded a $20 million funding round for Space and Time.
Nate Holiday, co-founder of Space and Time, described the platform’s mission in his remarks. He stated, “Space and Time was built to make verifiable data accessible to any application, at any scale.” Holiday continued, “Dreamspace is where that infrastructure meets the people building the next wave of the internet.”
Holiday further clarified how the technology simplifies development processes. He noted, “When the data layer handles itself, the only thing left to focus on is what you want to create.” Zero-knowledge proof technology enables the verification and indexing of stored data within the system.
A decentralized network of database validators hosts the data distribution for Space and Time. This architecture enables both secure storage and transparent verification processes. Microsoft Fabric incorporated Space and Time’s data feeds during the previous year.
Base Network Welcomes Additional AI-Powered Development Tools
The Base ecosystem now includes Dreamspace among its growing collection of blockchain-powered development platforms. Coinbase has promoted AgentKit, which provides secure wallet infrastructure and onchain functionality. The x402 open source protocol powers AgentKit’s operations.
Wallet service providers continue enhancing their offerings with automated capabilities. Trust Wallet, supported by Changpeng Zhao, recently introduced agentic functionality. These additions enable wallets to execute programmable onchain operations.
Broader artificial intelligence platforms continue advancing into software creation capabilities. Anthropic’s Claude provides coding support across multiple development scenarios. Venice AI delivers decentralized and private tools for developers.
The beta phase for Dreamspace launched last year ahead of its complete public release. Throughout that testing window, participants constructed more than 34,000 applications using the platform. Indonesian students contributed several of these applications.
The platform creates smart contract logic automatically, eliminating manual coding requirements. Applications deploy directly onto the Base network following generation. Access now extends to the general public following the conclusion of early testing.
Microsoft maintains its commitment to Space and Time through its comprehensive blockchain investment strategy. The Microsoft Fabric integration continues operating. Dreamspace now functions publicly on Base with verified data infrastructure fully operational.
