Flare’s Firelight protocol recently processed an 8 million FXRP deposit from a single entity, according to platform executives. Co-founder Hugo Philion verified the transaction originated from an institutional participant. Developer relations engineer Kristaps Grinbergs emphasized that this development demonstrates Flare’s established infrastructure for XRP-centered decentralized finance.
Institutional Entity Deposits 8M FXRP on Flare Network
Hugo Philion revealed the transaction through a post on X, questioning whether an institutional player was exploring Firelight’s capabilities. He subsequently verified that an institutional source deployed the entire 8 million FXRP amount in a single operation. Philion characterized the transaction as a genuine commitment rather than an exploratory test.
Kristaps Grinbergs publicly addressed the development and emphasized the platform’s advancement in XRP-based finance. He stated, “Flare has already created a solid foundation for XRP finance with FXRP and Firelight.” Grinbergs noted that development efforts continue to broaden the ecosystem’s capabilities.
Blockchain data reveals Firelight processed 9.014 million FXRP in deposits on April 21 at 13:00. The 8 million FXRP stake represented the majority of that hour’s activity. This deposit volume marked the largest single-hour movement in over 30 days and the second-highest recorded this year.
Historical data indicates the peak hourly deposit occurred on March 18, 2026, at 14:00, totaling 15.442 million XRP. Following this recent transaction, cumulative deposits reached 75.52 million FXRP. Withdrawals total 17.14 million FXRP, resulting in net deposits of 58.38 million FXRP.
Throughout the entire network, Flare maintains a total value locked of 155.7 million XRP. This amount converts to approximately $219.63 million based on current market rates. Firelight accounts for $71.59 million, comprising more than 32% of the network’s overall TVL.
FXRP and Firelight Expand XRP Functionality on Flare
FXRP functions as a non-custodial, overcollateralized representation of XRP deployed on Flare. The asset maintains parity with XRP at a 1:1 ratio. This mechanism grants XRP holders entry to smart contract capabilities throughout the ecosystem.
FXRP represents the inaugural active asset within Flare’s FAssets framework. This system enables assets like XRP to participate in decentralized finance environments. Participants can engage in lending, borrowing, staking, and liquidity provision through connected platforms.
Firelight serves as an institutional-grade staking and security protocol built in collaboration with Sentora. The platform enables participants to stake FXRP and receive stXRP in return. stXRP holders maintain DeFi participation while accumulating staking rewards.
Flare deployed FXRP on its mainnet during September 2025 with an initial 5 million minting limit. Participants reached this threshold in under four hours, generating $15 million in FXRP value. The development team subsequently raised the limit following overwhelming demand.
Firelight activated in December 2025 with Phase 1 concentrating on liquid staking functionality. Participants bridged XRP, created FXRP, and allocated tokens to the Launch Vault to receive stXRP. The initial deposit capacity of approximately 25 million FXRP reached maximum capacity rapidly.
By February 2026, participants had transformed 100 million XRP into FXRP. Roughly 70% of this supply moved into DeFi applications throughout the network. Present statistics show TVL standing at 155.7 million XRP, with Firelight commanding a 32% portion.
