On April 22, Broadcom (AVGO) and Google Cloud (GOOGL) announced an enhanced strategic alliance, with Broadcom’s AppNeta platform serving as the foundation for Google Cloud’s newly launched Cloud Network Insights offering.
Cloud Network Insights represents a native Google Cloud solution developed specifically for its customer base. The platform leverages AppNeta’s advanced monitoring infrastructure to deliver enhanced operational transparency for applications running in geographically distributed and architecturally diverse environments.
The offering addresses a pressing challenge facing enterprise IT operations. With computing workloads increasingly fragmented across various public clouds, private infrastructure, and software-as-a-service applications, conventional monitoring solutions often fail to provide visibility beyond customer-controlled network perimeters.
Cloud Network Insights bridges this visibility deficit through three essential capabilities. The platform provides comprehensive network experience monitoring with complete path visualization. It delivers application and agent performance tracking spanning both traditional data centers and cloud platforms. Additionally, it includes diagnostic tools engineered to accelerate root cause analysis when determining whether performance degradation stems from network or application layer issues.
The Role of AppNeta Technology
AppNeta represents Broadcom’s specialized monitoring platform focused on end-user experience for cloud-native and SaaS workloads. The technology delivers granular visibility into both network transport and application behavior in environments where traditional monitoring approaches fall short.
Broadcom deploys AppNeta throughout its own infrastructure to monitor data flows across its hybrid computing environment. This internal operational experience has directly informed the architectural decisions behind Cloud Network Insights.
Rob Enns, who leads Cloud Networking as VP and General Manager at Google Cloud, emphasized that incorporating AppNeta’s observability capabilities equips customers with tools to “proactively optimize agent, application, and network experiences and rapidly pinpoint network bottlenecks.”
Serge Lucio, serving as VP and General Manager for Broadcom’s Agile Operations Division, highlighted how the partnership enables Google Cloud customers to achieve more effective monitoring across dispersed applications and network infrastructure.
Multi-Cloud Monitoring Becomes Essential
Contemporary enterprise computing architectures are inherently complex. Resources and workloads are distributed across multiple public cloud providers, on-premises facilities, and an expanding ecosystem of cloud-based services. Achieving unified visibility across these heterogeneous environments has remained a persistent obstacle for operations teams.
Cloud Network Insights is designed to address this complexity by consolidating network performance data for distributed cloud applications into a unified view. The solution provides observability across the entire infrastructure stack, extending beyond the boundaries of Google-managed services.
Alan Davidson, Chief Information Officer at Broadcom, explained that the company depends on AppNeta to help its IT staff differentiate between network-related and application-related performance problems — an increasingly difficult task as infrastructure architectures become more intricate.
On the announcement date, Broadcom’s AVGO stock gained 0.91%. Google’s GOOGL shares rose 1.38%.
Cloud Network Insights, powered by Broadcom’s AppNeta technology, is currently available to customers via the Google Cloud platform.
