Coinbase has officially launched full stock trading access for all eligible US users. The platform now allows customers to trade US stocks and ETFs alongside cryptocurrencies in one account. This expansion makes it possible to buy, sell, and manage stocks with the same ease as digital assets.
The new service, offered through Coinbase Capital Markets, is available 24 hours a day, five days a week. Coinbase said the rollout is part of its plan to merge traditional financial markets and digital assets under its “Everything Exchange” vision.
24/5 Stock Trading With Zero Commission
Users can now trade thousands of US equities without paying commission fees. The service supports both market and limit orders for stocks and ETFs. Coinbase also allows fractional trading, enabling investors to purchase shares starting at one dollar.
“Offering zero commission stock trading ensures users can manage both crypto and equity investments efficiently,” said a Coinbase spokesperson. The platform supports funding with USD or USDC, making transactions seamless for existing users.
Integration With Yahoo Finance
Coinbase has partnered with Yahoo Finance to simplify stock research and execution. Users can now move directly from asset research on Yahoo Finance to trading on Coinbase with a single click.
The integration also provides real-time data from Coinbase to Yahoo Finance users. Additionally, eligible users can access a one-month trial of Coinbase One Basic through the Yahoo platform. This combination allows traders to explore opportunities without switching between multiple platforms.
Plans for Expansion and Tokenized Stocks
Coinbase plans to expand 24/5 trading to additional equities in the coming months. The company is also exploring tokenized stocks, which could allow on-chain collateralization and instant payments backed by stock holdings.
“This step brings equity trading closer to the digital asset world, creating a unified trading experience,” said the company. Currently, the new trading service is limited to US residents with a Coinbase Capital Markets brokerage account.
Supported Orders and Fractional Trading
The platform supports market and limit orders for eligible US stocks and ETFs. Fractional trading is also available, allowing users to invest small amounts during regular market hours. This feature is aimed at improving access to stock markets for new and casual investors.
Coinbase’s stock trading expansion represents a step toward combining traditional markets and cryptocurrency trading. Users now have a single platform to manage multiple asset types efficiently, with simple funding options and low-cost execution.
