Reform UK has become the first major British political party to accept cryptocurrency donations. Party leader Nigel Farage made the announcement at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas on May 29.
The party now uses crypto payments provider Radom to facilitate donations from eligible UK donors. This move places Reform ahead of the Conservative and Labour parties, which currently hold most seats in the House of Commons.
Farage stated that people with Bitcoin can now donate to the party provided they meet eligibility requirements. The Reform UK website confirmed that cryptocurrency donations became available on Thursday evening.
All donations remain subject to Electoral Commission rules. Anonymous donations are not permitted under current regulations.
Digital Asset Legislation Plans
Reform UK has prepared a “Cryptoassets and Digital Finance Bill” for introduction if the party wins the next general election. The election must take place before August 2029.
Farage outlined plans to establish a Bitcoin reserve at the Bank of England. The party also opposes any introduction of a central bank digital currency in the UK.
The Reform leader cited statistics showing seven million people in Britain own crypto assets. He noted that one in four people under 30 hold cryptocurrency.
Reform UK currently controls five seats in the House of Commons following the July 2024 election. This compares to Labour’s 403 seats and the Conservatives’ 120 seats.
Banking and Policy Context
Farage discussed his personal experiences with debanking in the UK during 2023. He used this experience to frame Reform’s pro-cryptocurrency stance.
The party pledges to “launch in Britain a crypto revolution” if elected to government. Farage aims to make London “one of the major trading centres of the world” for cryptocurrency.
UK cryptocurrency ownership has grown from 4% of adults in 2021 to approximately 12% currently. This represents millions of potential voters with direct interest in crypto policy.
The Labour government proposed new rules in May 2025 positioning the UK as a “safe harbor” for crypto innovation. These rules would treat crypto exchanges and dealers similarly to traditional financial firms.
Reform’s announcement comes as cryptocurrency gains political attention globally. The party’s position contrasts with more cautious approaches from established parties.
Farage appeared at the same Bitcoin conference as supporters of US President Donald Trump. He expressed support for Trump’s cryptocurrency policies during his appearance.
