Shares of NIO (NIO) climbed more than 9% during Wednesday trading, with gains extending over 2% in premarket activity after the Chinese EV maker announced its latest delivery figures.
The Shanghai-based automaker reported March 2026 deliveries of 35,486 vehicles, marking a substantial 136% jump from March 2025 levels.
These figures encompass NIO’s three-pronged brand approach. The premium NIO nameplate delivered 22,490 vehicles. The family-focused ONVO brand contributed 6,877 units to the total, while FIREFLY, the company’s compact luxury offering, added 6,119 deliveries.
Looking at the entire first quarter of 2026, NIO delivered 83,465 vehicles total. This represents a 98.3% surge versus the corresponding period in 2025 — effectively doubling output year-over-year.
By the end of March 31, 2026, the company’s all-time delivery count stood at 1,081,057 vehicles. NIO officially passed the one million cumulative delivery threshold sometime during the quarter.
The company issued its delivery update from Shanghai on April 1, 2026.
ES8 Flagship Model Crosses 80,000 Units in Record Time
A particularly impressive data point from the announcement: NIO’s All-New ES8 hit 80,000 deliveries on March 20, 2026 — merely 181 days following its market introduction.
This large SUV has dominated the number one spot in China’s full-size SUV segment for three straight months, regardless of powertrain type or pricing tier. Maintaining leadership in this competitive segment within China’s cutthroat EV landscape represents a significant achievement.
According to the company, the ES8’s success stems from its unique product features and consistent consumer interest.
The ONVO lineup, designed with family buyers in mind, is steadily gaining market share following its recent introduction. Meanwhile, FIREFLY, positioned as the company’s compact premium EV offering, delivered more than 6,000 vehicles during its initial months of full-scale production.
First Quarter Results Signal Strong Momentum for NIO
The Q1 delivery figure of 83,465 vehicles represents a significant improvement over previous quarterly performance. The near-doubling of deliveries compared to the prior year positions the company substantially ahead of its early 2025 trajectory.
NIO currently manages three separate vehicle brands, each targeting distinct consumer demographics — a multi-brand approach that appears to be yielding positive results based on the latest monthly data.
The company’s lifetime delivery count now exceeds 1.08 million vehicles since operations began.
Wednesday’s stock price movement demonstrates investor enthusiasm for the delivery results. Shares climbed more than 9% in trading following the official announcement.
