Tokenized Asset Access through Crypto Wallets
MetaMask, the widely used self-custodial crypto wallet, has launched access to tokenized U.S. equities, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and commodities. The integration is powered by Ondo Finance’s Global Markets platform. The feature enables eligible MetaMask mobile users in supported non-U.S. jurisdictions to trade over 200 tokenized securities.

These assets include tokenized shares of major U.S. companies like Apple, Nvidia, and Tesla. Users can also access ETFs tied to gold, silver, and the Nasdaq. The integration allows for direct access from the MetaMask wallet, removing the need for users to rely on traditional brokerage platforms.
A Step Forward in Real-World Asset Tokenization
According to the companies, the global market for tokenized real-world assets has exceeded $22 billion. The integration of tokenized stocks into a major self-custodial wallet is one of the first of its kind. It is seen as a move toward making blockchain-based financial services more accessible to everyday users.
Joe Lubin, CEO of Consensys and co-founder of Ethereum, said in a press release, “Access to U.S. markets still runs through legacy rails. Brokerage accounts, fragmented apps, and rigid trading windows haven’t meaningfully evolved. Bringing Ondo’s tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs directly into MetaMask shows what a better model looks like.”
Jurisdictional Availability and Use Cases
This feature is currently available only in supported non-U.S. regions. MetaMask has not specified which countries are included, but the limitation is due to regulatory restrictions. U.S.-based users cannot access the new trading options at this time.
Eligible users can buy and sell tokenized U.S. equities and ETFs within MetaMask without needing to exit the app. These digital assets represent fractional shares of traditional financial instruments. They are issued on-chain and backed by real-world securities.
Removing Barriers in Traditional Finance
This new feature removes common barriers such as the need for brokerage accounts and long account approval processes. Users can manage both crypto and tokenized real-world assets within the same interface.
Ondo Finance issues the tokenized assets and manages their connection to underlying U.S. securities. The platform ensures compliance with applicable regulations in non-U.S. jurisdictions where the feature is available.
Lubin added, “A single, self-custodial wallet where people can move between crypto and traditional assets without intermediaries and without giving up control.”
Growing Demand for Tokenized Assets
The integration between MetaMask and Ondo comes as tokenized asset demand continues to rise. More platforms are beginning to explore similar offerings to expand user access to traditional markets using blockchain tools.
By offering a way to interact with stocks and ETFs through a crypto wallet, MetaMask is among the first to make tokenized U.S. equities available within a self-custodial framework. This development shows the increasing connection between decentralized technologies and traditional financial services.
