Ford Motor Company posted strong second quarter results that left competitors in the dust. The automaker reported sales of 612,095 units, representing a 14.2% increase from the previous year.

The company’s growth rate crushed the broader U.S. auto industry, which only managed an estimated 1.4% increase during the same period. Ford’s performance was roughly 10 times better than the overall market.
Market share data tells an equally impressive story. Ford captured an estimated 14.3% of the U.S. auto market in the second quarter. This represents a 1.8 percentage point increase from the first quarter alone.
Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e and interim head of Ford Pro, didn’t mince words about the results. “We blew the doors off the overall industry with our second-quarter sales,” he said.
The company’s success spans multiple vehicle categories. Ford’s broad powertrain strategy appears to be paying off with customers choosing gas, hybrid, electric, and diesel options.
Truck Sales Drive Performance
Ford’s truck lineup carried much of the load in the second quarter. Total pickup sales reached 288,564 units, up 15.1% from the previous year. This category includes the F-Series, Ranger, and Maverick models.
The F-Series trucks specifically posted their best second quarter performance since 2019. This flagship line continues to anchor Ford’s sales strategy and market position.

Ford Pro Super Duty sales climbed 13.5% during the quarter. These heavy-duty trucks delivered their strongest second quarter performance since 2004.
The commercial vehicle segment shows particular strength. Ford Pro Intelligence now serves more than 750,000 active paid software subscribers. This represents growth of over 20% in the software subscription business.
Digital productivity tools are becoming a key differentiator for Ford’s commercial customers. These services help save time and money for business users.
Electric and Hybrid Momentum
Ford’s electrified vehicle sales reached record levels in the second quarter. The company sold 82,886 hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles combined. This represents a 6.6% increase from the previous year.
Electrified vehicles now make up 13.5% of Ford’s total sales mix. This growing percentage reflects increasing customer acceptance of alternative powertrains.
The Lincoln luxury division also contributed to the positive results. Lincoln delivered its highest second quarter volume since 2007.
Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driving technology continues gaining traction with customers. The system has accumulated over 6 million cumulative hours of hands-free driving miles.
However, Ford faces some headwinds in its electric vehicle strategy. The company has scaled back certain EV plans, including canceling a major all-electric SUV project.
Ford also postponed the launch of its next electric pickup truck. Company officials cited price pressures and weaker-than-expected EV demand for these decisions.
The automaker is navigating challenges in sourcing rare earth materials for electric vehicles. Exports from China have slowed, creating supply chain complications.
Ford has warned about potential price increases due to new U.S. auto import tariffs. The company indicated vehicle prices may rise if 25% tariffs remain in place.
The second quarter performance demonstrates Ford’s ability to execute across multiple vehicle segments while building its software and services business.
