ARK Invest CEO Cathie Wood recently drew parallels between Hyperliquid, a decentralized exchange protocol (DEX), and Solana’s early stages. Wood described Hyperliquid as “the new kid on the block” during an interview on the Master Investor podcast, noting that the protocol shows promise similar to Solana’s early days, which ultimately led to its establishment as one of the major players in the crypto space.
ARK Invest’s Core Crypto Holdings
ARK Invest’s public funds maintain positions in three primary cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. As of now, ARK’s Bitcoin holdings stand at $110,649 per coin, Ethereum at $4,044, and Solana at $206.64. Notably, ARK’s exposure to Solana comes through Breera Sports, which is tied to the Solana treasury and supported by investors from the Middle East. Additionally, Wood clarified the firm’s advisory ties to Solana through economist Art Laffer.
Wood did not confirm any investment in Hyperliquid but emphasized its growing importance in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. The competition between perpetual futures DEXs has intensified recently, with platforms like Aster making headlines after a strong surge in trading volume and open interest. However, Wood continues to regard Hyperliquid as a protocol worth watching.
ARK Invest’s Focus on a Few Dominant Networks
Despite the increasing number of tokens in the market, Wood remains firm in her belief that the future of crypto belongs to a select group of dominant networks. She mentioned that while Ethereum powers much of the DeFi ecosystem, Bitcoin remains the key player due to its fixed supply and monetary system role.
Wood emphasized that ARK’s long-term thesis revolves around these established networks, notably Bitcoin, which she sees as a resilient monetary asset. Although ARK also holds derivatives such as Uniswap and market protocols linked to Solana, the firm’s primary focus remains on the top three assets in the space.
