Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States shifted back to redemptions on Oct. 5, registering $89.8 million in net withdrawals across the product category. The session erased the $189.9 million that flowed into these vehicles on Oct. 2. Despite the reversal, the funds maintained a cumulative positive balance of roughly $120 million over the past five trading days.
Weekend Session Brings ETF Redemptions
ARKB, managed by ARK 21Shares, recorded the steepest outflows during the session with $85.2 million in redemptions. Fidelity’s FBTC ranked second with $74.5 million in withdrawals. BlackRock’s IBIT bucked the trend by pulling in $69.9 million, making it the sole major fund to register gains. The remaining products in the category showed flat activity with zero net flows.
The weekend session came on the heels of a robust September performance. Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S. gathered $2.65 billion throughout the month, marking the second-highest monthly intake since October 2025. This figure demonstrated that regulated Bitcoin investment vehicles had kicked off the fourth quarter with sustained monthly appetite from investors.
BTC Faces Modest Price Pressure
Bitcoin encountered selling activity as fund flows shifted negative. The cryptocurrency traded above $86,000 on Oct. 5 before dipping toward $85,000. BTC subsequently bounced back and hovered near $86,010 in early Oct. 6 trading, registering a decline of roughly 0.15% during the 24-hour window.
The digital asset had climbed to approximately $86,970 in the prior session before retreating to around $84,977. This followed an earlier push above $87,000 triggered by softer U.S. employment figures that sent Treasury yields lower and provided temporary relief for risk-oriented investments.
Attention Turns to Coming Trading Days
A firmer U.S. dollar, elevated Treasury yields, and geopolitical tensions have also constrained Bitcoin’s recent upward movement. These dynamics can impact appetite for risk-sensitive assets, with ETF flows serving as a closely monitored gauge of institutional participation in the Bitcoin marketplace.
The most recent outflow remains modest when measured against total ETF inflows since product launches. Still, concentrated selling in ARKB and FBTC has drawn increased scrutiny to upcoming sessions. Recent market analysis also highlighted Bitcoin encountering resistance around $87,000 while ETF activity and broader economic factors continued to influence price action.
Bitcoin exchange-traded funds will draw heightened attention if redemptions persist. Back-to-back outflow sessions could intensify pressure as BTC attempts to maintain support above $86,000. A swift return to positive flows would signal that the Oct. 5 shift represented an isolated event rather than the beginning of a sustained withdrawal pattern. This keeps the spotlight on whether institutional appetite holds firm as markets navigate another week of uncertain macroeconomic trading conditions in October.
