Multiple Catalysts Fuel Investor Interest
Rather than a single catalyst, several developments are converging. The aerospace company rebranded its AI unit from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, reflecting the Trump administration’s preference for “super intelligence” terminology over traditional AI nomenclature.
Elon Musk has acknowledged ongoing discussions with TSMC (TSM) regarding a specialized semiconductor manufacturing facility. The Terafab initiative would potentially include participation from Intel (INTC) and Tesla (TSLA).
Research from Bernstein projects SpaceX’s artificial intelligence revenue could expand nearly 500% in the coming year. Unconfirmed reports indicate Microsoft has explored agreements with SpaceX to secure AI computing infrastructure, though no formal arrangement has been announced.
Operationally, SpaceX executed three successful launches within approximately 13 hours this week. The organization is also preparing another attempt at a U.S. Space Development Agency mission following a weather-related postponement.
The Starship program remains central to long-term strategy. After successful missions in July and September, SpaceX aims to conduct up to two additional test flights this monthāFlight 15 and Flight 16āthough only one appears likely within the next 25-day window.
Pentagon Advisory Position Draws Attention
Musk is rejoining the Trump Administration in an advisory capacity, slated to co-chair the Pentagon’s Project Meridian alongside former Speaker Newt Gingrich and Anduril founder Palmer Luckey. Considering SpaceX’s substantial government contract portfolio, this appointment carries weight with equity holders.
Technical analyst Ali Martinez connected October’s price breakout directly to Musk’s expanded military engagement in a social media commentary on X. He noted both SPCX and Tesla showing simultaneous technical pattern developments.
Martinez projects SPCX could appreciate an additional 5% to $180 if current momentum persists. He similarly identified TSLA’s potential advance toward $450 contingent on breaking through the $400 level.
Valuation concerns remain prominent, however. Several cautious analysts emphasize that substantial future expansion appears already reflected in current pricing.
Insider transaction activity warrants attention as well. President and COO Gwynne Shotwell divested 342,170 shares on September 22 at an average execution price of $153.57, generating proceeds exceeding $52.5 million.
The transaction occurred through a pre-established Rule 10b5-1 trading blueprint and reduced her ownership position by approximately 12%. Her remaining stake consists of more than 2.4 million shares, currently valued near $379.6 million.
From a fundamental perspective, SpaceX reported a quarterly loss of $0.09 per share in its most recent filing, outperforming the consensus expectation of a $0.26 loss. Quarterly revenue totaled $7.81 billion, reflecting 92% growth compared to the prior-year period.
Technical indicators show the 50-day simple moving average at $139.62. SpaceX maintains a market capitalization of $2.26 trillion alongside a debt-to-equity ratio of 0.29.
