Shares of Nebius Group NV Class A advanced nearly 2% in Wednesday’s premarket hours. The uptick followed William Blair’s decision to launch coverage of the AI cloud infrastructure company with an Outperform recommendation.
According to analyst Jason Ader, Nebius differentiates itself from competing AI infrastructure companies through multiple factors. These include its substantial infrastructure footprint, sophisticated software platform, established customer base, and favorable access to capital markets.
Ader characterized Nebius as distinctly positioned beyond typical neocloud offerings. He also suggested the company’s present market valuation fails to capture its prospective long-term profitability.
This endorsement from William Blair arrives on the heels of an optimistic assessment by BNP Paribas issued September 24. In that report, the investment bank elevated Nebius to Outperform from a Neutral stance.
BNP Paribas simultaneously lifted its price objective to $399, up from $260. The firm indicated Nebius’s business trajectory has strengthened considerably since their initial coverage began in June.
Strong Revenue Projections Drive Analyst Enthusiasm
BNP Paribas anticipates Nebius may reach approximately $22 billion in annual recurring revenue by 2027’s close. Market watchers believe forthcoming 2027 guidance from the company could prompt widespread upward revisions to analyst estimates.
For the second quarter, Nebius delivered revenue totaling $582.3 million. This represented a substantial 454% surge compared to the corresponding period one year prior.
The company’s adjusted EBITDA transformed from a $21 million deficit into positive earnings of $236.2 million. Meanwhile, adjusted net loss contracted by 64% year-over-year to $33.2 million.
Management described the second quarter as the company’s strongest commercial performance to date. Four significant AI cloud agreements each featured average total contract values exceeding $1 billion.
The company’s five-year arrangement with Meta Platforms represents a potential value reaching $27 billion. In July, Nebius disclosed it had secured over $40 billion in additional contracted revenue from investment-grade clients, with both Microsoft and Meta among them.
Financing and Pricing Strategy Support Growth Narrative
Nebius completed a $5.75 billion convertible note offering in August to support its expansion initiatives. The company simultaneously revealed plans for a $10 billion AI facility development in Finland.
Beginning October 1, Nebius intends to implement price increases across multiple Nvidia GPU variants offered through its cloud infrastructure. Some market observers interpret this pricing power as evidence that customer demand for compute resources continues exceeding available capacity.
Earlier in September, Palantir designated Nebius as its preferred sovereign AI infrastructure collaborator. This partnership provides qualifying Palantir clients with access to Nebius’s compute and inference resources.
However, not all market participants share the optimistic outlook. Prominent investor Michael Burry has restructured his short exposure in Nebius into put option contracts expiring prior to summer 2027, positioning this as component of a wider AI sector hedge strategy.
Despite this contrarian position, the stock’s upward trajectory has persisted. Nebius trades substantially above its 52-week low of $73.52, though it remains below its 52-week peak of $299.86.
Based on WSJ data compilation, the consensus analyst stance on Nebius stock registers as overweight. The rating breakdown includes 14 buy recommendations, one overweight designation, seven hold ratings, one underweight assessment, and one sell recommendation.
