Full Week Shows Continued Institutional Appetite
Examining the complete Sep. 21–25 trading cycle reveals Bitcoin ETFs secured $2.39 billion in aggregate inflows. Each trading day throughout that period registered positive net accumulation.
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) dominated the competitive landscape. The flagship fund captured $1.16 billion throughout the five-day period.
Fidelity’s FBTC secured the runner-up position with $701.6 million in accumulation. ARK 21Shares’ ARKB contributed $294.7 million to the total, while Morgan Stanley’s MSBT accounted for $203.3 million.
Ethereum-focused ETFs similarly demonstrated strength. These products accumulated $689.8 million over the weekly period. Solana ETF vehicles attracted $188.1 million, with Friday alone accounting for $86.7 million of that figure.
Bitcoin’s valuation briefly surpassed $87,000 during the week’s early sessions. The cryptocurrency subsequently retreated toward the $84,000 threshold by Friday’s close.
Market analyst Ted, operating under the handle @TedPillows, observed Bitcoin maintaining support above the $84,000 level. He emphasized the importance of securing a weekly close above $82,800, warning that failure to hold this level could trigger a correction toward the $79,000–$80,000 zone.
Bond Market Dynamics and Regulatory Shifts Create Headwinds
Escalating bond market yields have created counterforces against Bitcoin’s upward momentum. Friday witnessed the 10-year US Treasury yield surge past 5.2%, marking its most elevated reading since 2007.
Elevated yields enhance the attractiveness of income-generating traditional assets. This dynamic has redirected some capital allocation away from Bitcoin and comparable risk-oriented investments.
MicroStrategy, maintaining its position as the premier corporate Bitcoin treasury holder, unveiled proposals for daily dividend distributions across four of its preferred equity securities. Management indicated that increased payment frequency could enhance both liquidity profiles and investor demand for these instruments.
The regulatory environment faces significant transition as SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce confirmed her Oct. 2 departure from the commission. Peirce played an instrumental role directing the SEC’s Crypto Task Force while advancing frameworks covering staking mechanisms, token classification standards, and tokenized securities protocols.
Her departure compounds recent legislative disappointments in the nation’s capital. The Senate proved unable to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act through the legislative process.
Blockchain Association CEO Summer Mersinger has similarly announced her resignation. Former executive Kristin Smith will assume interim leadership responsibilities.
International developments include Germany’s advancement of cryptocurrency taxation reforms. The proposed framework would apply a 50% tax rate to cryptocurrency sale proceeds when investors cannot provide documented acquisition costs—a provision Circle executive Patrick Hansen has publicly criticized.
At publication, Bitcoin traded at $83,807, reflecting a 0.3% decline over the trailing 24-hour period while maintaining approximately 8% gains across the seven-day window, per CoinGecko data.
