Shares of Meta Platforms (META) are currently changing hands near $768, reflecting a gain of over 3% in recent trading activity. The social media giant’s stock has surged approximately 25% since introducing its Muse AI assistant earlier this month.
This upward trajectory has brought META to within a few percentage points of its August record peak. The momentum accelerated following a series of major announcements made during Meta’s Connect conference held this week.
During his keynote presentation, CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced expanded Muse capabilities. The enhancement will enable users to interact with the AI assistant via Meta’s smart glasses using voice commands, eliminating the need to type queries into an application.
Zuckerberg additionally revealed the Muse Charm, a wearable pendant form factor of the AI assistant scheduled for release before year-end. The technology giant is making substantial investments in voice-driven artificial intelligence as its primary avenue for future expansion.
Analyst Community Responds to Muse Strategy
Following the conference, JPMorgan elevated its Meta price objective from $820 to $920. The investment bank’s analysts projected that Muse has the potential to achieve the broadest consumer AI adoption since OpenAI’s ChatGPT emerged.
Morgan Stanley reaffirmed its Overweight recommendation while maintaining a $775 target price. The firm highlighted Meta’s impressive 81.75% gross margin as providing flexibility to maintain competitive transaction fees during the buildout of its commerce infrastructure.
Cantor Fitzgerald increased its projection significantly, upgrading from $680 to $860. KeyBanc similarly adjusted upward, raising its target from $780 to $900, emphasizing Muse’s accelerating contribution to revenue generation.
Major Retail Collaborations Take Center Stage
Meta unveiled shopping partnerships with prominent retailers Walmart, Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Gap. These integrations enable consumers to complete purchases directly through the Muse AI interface without navigating away from the platform.
Morgan Stanley noted that these collaborations could streamline the consumer shopping journey significantly. The investment firm also suggested that Meta’s strategy of maintaining minimal commission rates might compel competitors like Google to adopt comparable merchant-friendly pricing structures.
Market observers are closely monitoring whether Amazon will join the program. Morgan Stanley indicated that Walmart’s partnership with Meta increases the likelihood of Amazon participating to maintain competitiveness in AI-powered commerce.
Meta also debuted fresh smart glasses hardware during the conference. A notable variant eliminates the camera component, featuring audio-only functionality—a direct response to privacy concerns regarding earlier versions that could record individuals without explicit notification.
The company plans to release a $1,299 virtual reality headset in the upcoming spring season. The device will feature 3D content collaborations with Amazon Prime Video and Disney’s ESPN platform.
However, not all analyst commentary was unequivocally positive. InvestingPro’s valuation frameworks indicate Meta shares may be trading above fair value at present levels, despite continued enthusiasm surrounding the Muse initiative.
Several aspects of the newly announced retail partnerships require finalization. Critical details regarding data sharing protocols, merchant of record designations, and loyalty program integrations will need to be negotiated individually with each partner.
Meta stock concluded the trading week trading less than 4% below its historical peak.
