Apple (AAPL) shares climbed to an unprecedented $344.94 on Monday, capping off a 34% surge over the trailing twelve months. Trading concluded at $344.70, elevating the tech giant’s market capitalization to $5.01 trillion.
This milestone follows impressive fiscal third-quarter 2026 financial performance. Total revenue advanced 16% compared to the prior year, with iPhone sales jumping 22% and Mac revenue surging 29%. Earnings per share reached $2.02, marking a 29% increase from the comparable period twelve months earlier.
However, that earnings figure requires context. The company benefited from a non-recurring tariff reimbursement valued at $0.11 per share. Excluding this one-time benefit, the core EPS growth rate stands closer to 22%āstill robust, though less impressive than the headline number indicates.
Former CEO Tim Cook characterized it as Apple’s “most successful June quarter on record,” highlighting double-digit expansion across iPhone, Mac, and Services segments, with growth registered in all geographic territories.
Foldable iPhone Launch and Forward Projections
Apple introduced its inaugural foldable smartphone, dubbed the iPhone Duo, in early September 2026. The device becomes available for purchase in October, meaning its revenue contribution will appear in first-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings reported early next year.
The company also implemented a $100 price increase on previous iPhone generations, attributing the adjustment to escalating memory component expenses. Wall Street forecasts this pricing strategy will support 2027 revenues approaching $528 billion, representing approximately 10.5% year-over-year expansion.
While the revenue outlook appears promising, profit growth projections tell a more measured story. Analysts anticipate EPS of $9.59 for 2027, suggesting roughly 9% growth. The elimination of tariff refunds combined with persistent elevated memory costs are expected to compress profit margins.
Based on current pricing, AAPL shares trade at 35.35 times projected 2027 earnings. This valuation represents nearly a 30% premium over Apple’s five-year average forward price-to-earnings multiple.
Wall Street Divided on Current Valuation
Certain analysts see additional upside potential. Evercore ISI elevated its price objective to $380, citing better-than-anticipated consumer appetite for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models according to proprietary survey research.
BofA Securities maintained its Buy recommendation, observing that wireless carrier promotional programs are effectively counterbalancing Apple’s premium pricing on the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
UBS adopted a more reserved stance, maintaining a Neutral rating while highlighting subdued demand indicators, including abbreviated wait periods for the iPhone 18 Pro relative to the previous year.
The Street’s aggregate view registers as Moderate Buy, derived from 16 Buy ratings, 11 Hold ratings, and 4 Sell ratings issued during the past three months. The mean 12-month price objective stands at $337.61, which notably falls below the stock’s present trading level.
One analyst assigned a Hold rating, contending the recent price appreciation has accelerated returns for investors. They identified the elevated forward multiple as justification for restraint despite the absence of significant fundamental concerns.
Apple maintains a net cash balance when incorporating its marketable securities portfolio, indicating the company generates profits without meaningful financial leverage.
Evercore ISI’s $380 price target elevation remains the latest analyst move, positioning it as the most optimistic projection on Wall Street as the iPhone Duo launch approaches.
