Nvidia (NVDA) stock began Tuesday’s session at $220.60 and has advanced more than 3% during trading, as the semiconductor giant continues to establish unprecedented market dominance.
With a current valuation of $5.4 trillion, Nvidia represents approximately 8% of the entire S&P 500 index, approaching the highest concentration ever documented for a single company, based on analytics from Augur Infinity. This valuation exceeds the combined worth of five complete sectors within the index, encompassing energy, utilities, real estate, and materials.
“Nvidia is making history,” noted strategists at The Kobeissi Letter.
The chipmaker disclosed its fiscal second-quarter financial results on August 26. Adjusted earnings per share reached $2.22, surpassing the Street consensus of $2.09. Total revenue climbed to $96.22 billion, exceeding analyst expectations of $92.27 billion.
Year-over-year revenue growth registered at 105.9% versus the comparable period last year. In the prior-year quarter, Nvidia delivered EPS of $1.05.
The Data Center segment, encompassing Hyperscalers, AI Clouds, Industrial, and Enterprise customers, generated $89 billion in revenue. This figure surpassed the $85.8 billion projection.
Edge Computing revenue, which includes physical AI applications and gaming, totaled $7.2 billion compared to estimates of $6.6 billion.
Optimistic Forward Outlook
Chief Executive Jensen Huang indicated the company anticipates approximately 70% revenue expansion for fiscal 2028. The analyst community had previously projected 45%. Huang noted that growth rates could have exceeded 100% absent supply constraints affecting memory chips.
Wall Street analysts have swiftly revised their price objectives. Benchmark established a $335 target accompanied by a Buy recommendation. Morgan Stanley assigned a $300 price objective with an Overweight stance. Goldman Sachs maintained a Neutral rating while increasing its target to $300 from $285. The consensus price target among analysts currently stands at $324.23, with an overall “Moderate Buy” rating.
Nvidia has also secured board authorization for an $80 billion stock repurchase program, while a quarterly dividend of $0.25 per share is scheduled for October 1 distribution, with a September 10 record date.
Institutional Accumulation and Executive Divestment
Institutional stakeholders control 65.27% of NVDA shares. Multiple investment firms expanded their positions during the second quarter. Aaron Wealth Advisors increased its holdings by more than 114%, acquiring 353,630 additional shares. Decker Retirement Planning enlarged its position by 32.3%. Davis Capital Management expanded its stake by 22.4%.
ARK Invest acquired approximately $53 million worth of NVDA stock following the post-earnings pullback, interpreted as an endorsement from Cathie Wood’s investment firm.
Conversely, company insiders have liquidated roughly 1.4 million shares valued at $299.3 million during the past 90 days. Board member Mark A. Stevens divested 885,000 shares on June 18 at an average transaction price of $210.17, trimming his ownership by 14.53%.
Nvidia additionally disclosed a $3.5 billion strategic investment in MediaTek, broadening their collaboration across data center infrastructure, edge computing platforms, and automotive AI solutions. Anthropic has reportedly executed a $35 billion cloud services agreement supported by Nvidia technology.
The stock trades within a 12-month range spanning $164.07 to $236.54, with its 50-day moving average positioned at $208.33 and its 200-day moving average at $201.08.
