Bitcoin (BTC) delivered its most significant weekly dollar advance in history, surging $14,264 to settle at $77,387. This performance represented a 22.7% climb across seven days and brought the cryptocurrency within striking distance of the $80,000 threshold monitored by market participants.
The upward momentum gained traction after the U.S. Treasury Department’s decision to broaden its buyback initiative. Market confidence surged rapidly, with the Crypto Fear & Greed Index advancing to 78, representing its strongest reading since December 2024.
ETF Capital Flows Bolster Bitcoin Price Momentum
Interest intensified across U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs. Investment products registered $1.92 billion in net capital inflows throughout the trading week that concluded on Aug. 21, according to SoSoValue data.
This influx represented the most robust performance since October 2025. Market analysts indicated that persistent ETF demand might help verify whether the upward movement receives backing from actual spot purchasers rather than temporary leveraged positions.
Strive Chairman and CEO Matt Cole said Bitcoin has demonstrated strength versus both the U.S. dollar and gold. The Bitcoin-to-gold ratio climbed to 16.73 ounces of gold per Bitcoin, representing its peak level since May.
Cole suggested that appetite for scarce assets might persist as market participants pursue limited-supply holdings. He noted that brief corrections may emerge, though buyers could reenter during periods of price weakness.
Market Observers Monitor Leverage Metrics and Macroeconomic Factors
Bitcoin maintained trading activity near $77,000 following its advance beyond $70,500. Market specialists currently identify $79,500 as the subsequent resistance zone ahead of the psychological $80,000 milestone.
Crypto trader That Martini Guy indicated the market framework stays constructive while Bitcoin maintains positions above its previous trading range. A breakthrough beyond $79,500 might clear the path toward elevated price zones.
BTC Markets analyst Rachael Lucas suggested market participants should track ETF flows, spot trading volume, funding rates, and open interest metrics. These signals can reveal whether the rally relies on genuine demand or excessive leveraged positions.
Zeus Research analyst Dominick John identified $80,000 as the primary near-term objective. He projected Bitcoin could advance toward $85,000 to $90,000 if ETF inflows and market liquidity maintain supportive conditions, while elevated leverage or increased U.S. dollar demand might prompt a retracement during the upcoming phase of Bitcoin trading this week.
