Ripple Prime Raises $275 Million From Institutional Investors
Ripple said Ripple Prime completed a $275 million private placement of senior unsecured notes. The company increased the size of the offering after attracting institutional investors across several major financial markets.
Ripple Prime issued the notes as senior unsecured debt, meaning they are not backed by specific company assets. Piper Sandler acted as the lead placement agent for the transaction.
The company plans to use the proceeds for working capital and general corporate purposes within its regulated operations. The new funding will support Ripple Prime as it expands its U.S. business and serves institutional clients across traditional and digital asset markets.
Demand for clearing, financing and prime brokerage services has grown as institutions seek infrastructure that can support several asset classes through one provider. Ripple Prime plans to direct part of the new capital toward its technology and workforce as the business expands.
KBRA Assigns Investment Grade Rating to Ripple Prime Notes
The notes received a BBB investment grade rating from KBRA. The credit rating agency had previously assigned Ripple Prime a BBB issuer rating.
An investment grade rating measures the issuer’s ability to meet its financial commitments. However, the rating does not remove credit risk or guarantee repayment. The notes remain obligations of Ripple Prime under the terms of the private placement.
Ripple Prime operates as Ripple’s non-bank prime brokerage business. Its services include clearing, prime brokerage and financing for institutional clients seeking access to multiple financial markets.
The financing also gives the company another source of capital as it develops its U.S. operations. Rather than relying only on capital from its parent company, Ripple Prime can now use institutional debt financing to support its business plans.
Ripple Prime Targets Growth in U.S. Institutional Markets
Ripple Prime President Noel Kimmel said the offering attracted strong institutional participation as the company works to expand its financial infrastructure.
“The robust support we received for our inaugural notes offering is a testament to the strength of our business today, and confidence in our long-term vision,” Kimmel said.
He added that the proceeds provide additional capital for investment in technology and staff. Ripple Prime plans to use those resources as it works to expand its position in the global non-bank prime brokerage market.
The transaction also broadens Ripple’s presence beyond its blockchain payments and digital asset operations. Through Ripple Prime, the company is building services aimed at institutional clients that require clearing, financing and brokerage infrastructure across traditional and digital markets..
