The cryptocurrency payment infrastructure provider MoonPay has launched Cash App Pay integration for its checkout system, providing qualified U.S. users with another convenient method to purchase digital assets. This new feature enables customers to utilize funds stored within their Cash App accounts to buy cryptocurrencies directly. The integration effectively extends Cash App’s cryptocurrency ecosystem beyond its native Bitcoin and USDC offerings through MoonPay’s extensive asset selection.
Cash App Pay Integration Reaches Multiple Leading Crypto Services
The payment giant has rolled out Cash App Pay compatibility through its direct purchasing interface and across numerous partner ecosystems. Compatible platforms encompass Trust Wallet, MetaMask, Ledger, BitPay, Uniswap, Tangem, LOBSTR, Edge, Moonshot, and Bitcoin.com. This widespread availability ensures users can leverage the payment functionality across various prominent wallet and cryptocurrency exchange applications.
This streamlined approach eliminates the traditional requirement of moving funds between different financial services before completing digital asset transactions. Qualified customers can now directly utilize their Cash App account balances when processing transactions through MoonPay’s payment gateway. This development represents another strategic enhancement to the company’s growing U.S.-focused cryptocurrency payment infrastructure.
According to Block’s Q2 shareholder documentation, Cash App maintained 59 million active users as of June. While the platform has historically offered native Bitcoin trading capabilities and recently launched USDC functionality for its user base, MoonPay‘s integration now bridges Cash App balances with an expanded selection of digital currencies available through its marketplace.
Expanded Digital Asset Selection Through Cash App Payment Method
Through this collaboration, qualified Cash App customers can now acquire prominent cryptocurrencies including Ether, Solana, XRP, and USDT via MoonPay’s platform. Until now, Cash App’s native cryptocurrency offerings centered primarily around Bitcoin before gradually incorporating USDC. This partnership effectively expands the range of accessible digital assets without requiring Block to individually integrate each cryptocurrency into its platform.
Additionally, customers can now finance compatible self-custody wallet solutions using their Cash App funds through MoonPay’s payment infrastructure. Supported wallet providers include Ledger, Trust Wallet, MetaMask, and various other services among the initial launch collaborators. MoonPay manages the cryptocurrency acquisition process while partner platforms deliver the user-facing wallet experience and interfaces.
The payment processor has previously established connections between other mainstream financial services and cryptocurrency purchasing capabilities throughout its ecosystem. MoonPay introduced PayPal compatibility in 2024 before subsequently rolling out Venmo as an additional funding method. These earlier integrations followed comparable frameworks by directly linking established payment account balances with cryptocurrency transaction services.
Strategic Expansion Beyond Consumer-Focused Crypto Services
Beyond retail cryptocurrency access, MoonPay has been actively developing its offerings across trading capabilities, custody solutions, asset tokenization, and blockchain technology services. The firm completed its acquisition of security technology company Sodot in April through an all-stock deal estimated at approximately $100 million. Subsequently, Sodot’s technology has been deployed to enhance infrastructure supporting enterprise cryptocurrency services and wallet security protocols.
The company further acquired Solana-focused trading infrastructure platform DFlow in May, followed by cross-chain technology startup Glide in July. DFlow’s underlying technology now powers MoonPay Trade, an institutional-grade trading and routing infrastructure spanning over 200 blockchain networks. Additionally, Franklin Templeton integrated its tokenized BENJI fund with the platform to facilitate institutional stablecoin operations.
Earlier this month, the firm ventured into AI-driven payment solutions by launching its noncustodial PayBox product. PayBox enables compatible AI assistants to facilitate purchases, token swaps, fund transfers, and decentralized finance operations within user-established permission parameters. Nevertheless, the Cash App Pay integration demonstrates MoonPay’s continued commitment to reducing barriers for mainstream users entering the broader cryptocurrency marketplace.
