Shares of Oklo (OKLO) climbed approximately 7% during Friday’s opening session following the release of second-quarter financial results that demonstrated significantly stronger revenue performance than anticipated, despite reporting deeper losses.
The equity later moderated to around 4% gains as trading progressed through the session and initial market excitement cooled.
Quarterly revenue registered at $1.2 million, substantially surpassing the Wall Street consensus forecast of merely $83,800.
The company posted a loss of $0.28 per share, falling short of analyst projections calling for a $0.16 loss. While revenue metrics impressed investors, profitability figures disappointed.
Quarterly net losses expanded to $48.5 million, a significant increase from the $24.7 million loss recorded during the comparable quarter last year. Wall Street analysts had anticipated net losses of approximately $25.5 million.
The company attributed the expanding losses to elevated research, development, and operational expenditures. R&D and operating costs surged to $39.5 million, climbing from $11.5 million in the year-ago period. This spending level also exceeded the Bloomberg consensus projection of $23.3 million.
Strong Liquidity Position Emerges
A particularly notable metric was the company’s cash position. Oklo concluded the second quarter holding $3 billion in cash and marketable securities, comprising $1.66 billion in cash and cash equivalents alongside $1.4 billion in marketable securities.
The cash balance grew by $1.9 billion throughout the first half of the year, driven by proceeds from the company’s at-the-market equity offerings.
This liquidity metric also surpassed analyst projections. Consensus estimates had forecast $1.05 billion in cash and equivalents.
For the six-month period ending Q2 2026, Oklo recorded a net loss of $81.6 million. Operating losses totaled $124.2 million, encompassing payroll expenses, equity-based compensation, general administrative costs, and professional service fees.
These losses were partially mitigated by $44.5 million in net interest income and dividend earnings.
Investment Activities Accelerate
Operating activities consumed $65.5 million in cash during the second quarter. Through the first six months, operating cash outflows reached $81.6 million.
Year-to-date investing activities utilized $912.7 million in cash. This figure included $743.6 million in net acquisitions of marketable securities connected to the ATM program, alongside $126.9 million in capital expenditures for property, plant, and equipment distributed across the company’s three operating divisions.
The expenditure profile clearly demonstrates that Oklo remains in an aggressive growth and investment cycle, expanding capabilities throughout its business segments.
The revenue outperformance deserves recognition within proper context. While $1.2 million remains modest in absolute magnitude, it surpassed analyst expectations by more than fourteen-fold.
Oklo closed the second quarter of 2026 maintaining $3 billion in total available liquidity, representing an increase of $1.9 billion during the year’s initial six months.
