Shares of Redwire (RDW) surged over 13% during Thursday’s morning session, reaching $12.19, following the company’s impressive second-quarter financial results announced after Wednesday’s market close.
Second-quarter revenue totaled $117.1 million, marking an 89.6% year-over-year expansion. This figure exceeded the Street’s consensus forecast of roughly $107 to $108 million by approximately 8.7%.
Regarding profitability metrics, Redwire disclosed losses ranging between $0.09 and $0.19 per share. Market analysts had anticipated losses of approximately $0.15 to $0.16. This represented meaningful improvement from the $0.40 per-share loss recorded during Q1 2026.
The quarter established new all-time records for both top-line results and gross profitability. Gross margin achieved 27.8% positivity, demonstrating a significant reversal from previous reporting periods.
Chief Executive Peter Cannito highlighted the operational achievements driving these results. “With new record highs for both revenue of $117.1 million and gross margin of 27.8%, Redwire’s second quarter of 2026 was defined by successful execution,” he stated.
Chief Financial Officer Chris Edmunds emphasized that the $214.0 million in first-half revenue provides substantial clarity for second-half performance expectations.
Historic Backlog Reflects Robust Market Demand
The company’s contracted backlog surged to an unprecedented $542.1 million, representing a 64.5% year-over-year gain. The book-to-bill ratio for the quarter stood at 1.42, while the trailing 12-month metric reached 1.52.
When the book-to-bill ratio exceeds 1.0, it indicates the company is securing new contracts faster than it converts them to revenue, suggesting robust demand outpacing current production capacity.
Redwire maintained its full-year 2026 revenue guidance of $450 million to $500 million, providing stakeholders with concrete expectations for the remainder of the fiscal year.

The overall market provided minimal tailwinds for Redwire’s performance. The S&P 500 increased 0.1%, the Dow gained 0.2%, while the Nasdaq declined 0.6% during pre-market hours. RDW’s rally was driven entirely by company-specific factors.
