Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the United States attracted $227 million on July 20, extending their positive inflow pattern to five consecutive sessions. Combined ETF assets under management increased to roughly $79.16 billion. Ethereum-focused spot ETFs simultaneously gained $38.09 million during the same period.
The continuous five-day accumulation exceeds $600 million ā representing the most consistent institutional purchasing activity since mid-July and marking a reversal from an eight-week withdrawal period that persisted through late June.
Total cryptocurrency market capitalization expanded 1.56% over 24 hours to reach $2.24 trillion.
Bitcoin derivatives markets experienced heightened activity. Trading volumes surged 95% to $59.67 billion. Open interest advanced 2.36% to $49.07 billion. Options trading volume exploded 138% to $3.25 billion, while options open interest grew 1.86% to $32.67 billion.
Technical analysis on the four-hour timeframe shows BTC traded within a range of $65,140 to $65,623. The MACD indicator displayed bullish characteristics while the RSI registered at 62, remaining below overbought thresholds. A decisive breakout above $66,000 could establish momentum toward $67,000 and subsequently $68,000. Conversely, failure to maintain $65,000 support might result in a retest of $64,000.
Regulatory Framework Developments Strengthen Market Confidence
Market sentiment received additional support from regulatory developments in Washington. President Trump consented to ethics provisions associated with the CLARITY Act ā proposed legislation that would establish jurisdictional boundaries between the SEC and CFTC for digital asset oversight. According to an industry insider who spoke with The Block, this agreement materialized Monday evening following months of negotiation deadlock. Congressional action is required before the early August recess commences.
The semiconductor sector’s recovery contributed to the broader risk asset rally. MSCI’s Asia Pacific index advanced 2%. Korean and Taiwanese markets each registered approximately 4% increases. Japan’s Nikkei index gained 3%. A technology-focused mainland China benchmark surged nearly 7% as government-affiliated entities provided buying support.
Crude oil prices retreated, with Brent declining 1% to $88.58 following Iranian signals that mediators were distributing proposals aimed at de-escalating regional tensions.
Jeff Mei, Chief Operating Officer at BTSE, observed: “Present valuations for bitcoin and ether appear subdued yet reasonable, considering the macroeconomic uncertainties affecting markets.” He emphasized that market participants are monitoring the Federal Reserve’s July 28ā29 policy meeting, with probability estimates for a July rate increase standing at merely 15%.
Market analyst MichaĆ«l van de Poppe (@CryptoMichNL) expressed expectations that Bitcoin could advance toward the $80,000ā$85,000 range within the coming two to three months, which he suggests would align with the 50-week moving average ā a technical threshold he characterizes as conventional resistance during early phases of post-bear-market recoveries.
Bitcoin’s most recent valuation registered at $65,442, with purchasing pressure sustaining levels above the $65,000 support threshold.
