Future updates will enable receiving stablecoins from external blockchain networks.
Breez has introduced a groundbreaking payment solution that enables Bitcoin holders to transmit USDC and USDT without maintaining stablecoin balances. Operating through its software development kit, this innovation facilitates transactions spanning more than 30 distinct blockchain ecosystems. Applications can now provide stablecoin disbursement capabilities while users maintain exclusive Bitcoin holdings.
Bitcoin-Based USDC Transactions Now Available Through Breez
The payment infrastructure integrates directly into Breez’s SDK, which application developers utilize for implementing Lightning Network functionality. Users initiate transactions from their Bitcoin reserves while recipients receive USDC. This eliminates the requirement for maintaining dedicated USDC wallets prior to executing transfers.
The system automatically analyzes recipient addresses and determines target blockchain networks before transaction approval. It presents senders with comprehensive details including routing paths, associated costs, transfer amounts, and destination networks. Upon user authorization, liquidity service providers execute Bitcoin-to-USDC conversions and complete recipient delivery.
The platform leverages Lightning Network infrastructure combined with its proprietary Spark Layer 2 technology for rapid transaction finalization. Breez collaborates with specialized partners such as Flashnet and Boltz to handle currency conversion and fund distribution. Development teams gain stablecoin payment capabilities without constructing individual blockchain connections.
USDT Payment Functionality Extended Across Multiple Networks
The platform similarly accommodates USDT distribution from Bitcoin reserves using identical transaction mechanics. Senders maintain Bitcoin exposure throughout the process while recipients obtain USDT. This architecture eliminates stablecoin wallet management requirements for transaction initiators.
Current functionality exclusively handles outgoing stablecoin payments, based on the company’s deployment timeline. Nevertheless, Breez intends to introduce inbound stablecoin reception capabilities from various blockchain ecosystems in subsequent releases. This enhancement could transform the SDK into a comprehensive multi-currency payment infrastructure.
USDT maintains significant relevance throughout international remittance channels as users frequently favor dollar-denominated transactions. Regional preferences for specific blockchains vary due to differences in transaction costs and exchange platform accessibility. The 30-chain compatibility provides developers with enhanced market adaptability.
Enhanced Capabilities for Bitcoin Transaction Systems
This development expands stablecoin integration within Bitcoin payment systems and Lightning-powered applications. Breez currently powers over 75 applications through its development kit, including notable platforms like Deblock and Cake Wallet. This established ecosystem provides the new capability with immediate distribution across wallet services and payment solutions.
The organization secured $4.5 million in funding during December 2022 from backers including Fulgur Ventures and Ego Death Capital. Following this investment, Breez has concentrated on developing Lightning infrastructure for digital wallets, social platforms, and payment systems. This latest release advances that vision into stablecoin distribution and cross-border remittance applications.
The broader Bitcoin transaction ecosystem has evolved beyond minor retail purchases. During February, Secure Digital Markets executed a $1 million Lightning Network payment to Kraken completing in less than half a second. Voltage launched a dollar-denominated credit facility connected to Lightning payment infrastructure.
