The World Series of Poker has formed a strategic alliance with the Solana Foundation to enable cryptocurrency-based tournament registrations. Players can now complete buy-ins using Solana’s blockchain through MoonPay’s payment infrastructure with zero additional charges. This cryptocurrency payment system launches June 10 in Las Vegas and expands to WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas by December 2026.
World Series of Poker Integrates Solana Payment System
The poker tournament organizer announced that participants can settle entry fees using SOL beginning June 10 at Las Vegas venues. MoonPay has been designated as the sole payment processor for all cryptocurrency transactions. Participants will convert their buy-in amounts to SOL at the current market rate without incurring service charges.
Ty Stewart, CEO of WSOP, explained that this advancement modernizes payment infrastructure and expands player accessibility.
Stewart remarked, “We are incredibly proud to bring such an innovative and passionate community into the fold.” He emphasized that Solana’s platform prioritizes consumer-friendly experiences.
The Solana Foundation has secured presenting sponsorship status for the 2026 WSOP summer championship series. This partnership extends to the first-ever WSOP Paradise tournament scheduled in the Bahamas. The sponsorship package includes venue branding and integrated product experiences.
Entry fees at WSOP tournaments span from several hundred dollars to amounts exceeding six figures. Eliminating processing fees removes the standard 2% to 3% transaction charges that typically apply. Players using SOL will pay exactly the posted entry amount without markup.
The poker series confirmed that players now have an alternative to conventional credit card payments and cash cage transactions. Tournament registrations can be completed directly through Solana’s distributed ledger technology. MoonPay will facilitate all on-site payment conversions and processing.
WSOP Paradise to Offer Digital Currency Prize Distributions
The Bahamas-based WSOP Paradise event will implement stablecoin prize payment options when it debuts in December 2026. Tournament champions can elect to receive their winnings through Solana’s blockchain network. Event organizers verified that prize distributions will be available in stablecoin denominations.
Players from international markets frequently encounter wire transfer processing delays and foreign exchange conversion expenses. Digital currency settlements through stablecoins provide faster cross-border prize distribution. WSOP has confirmed this payment alternative will be operational at the Caribbean location.
The collaboration encompasses jointly developed products connected to championship events. Tournament broadcasts will stream through Solana’s digital platform as part of the arrangement. Officials confirmed these features will accompany the cryptocurrency payment launch.
The World Series of Poker has conducted annual tournaments for 57 consecutive years. This represents the organization’s first direct acceptance of digital currency for tournament registrations. WSOP officials stated that the system integration completed all necessary regulatory compliance procedures in Nevada.
The official announcement specified that MoonPay will oversee all cryptocurrency transaction processing. WSOP has committed to maintaining zero additional charges on SOL payments. The cryptocurrency payment capability becomes active June 10 at Las Vegas tournament venues.
