On March 10, 2026, Amazon made its Health AI assistant accessible to every customer across the United States, integrating the technology directly into Amazon.com and its mobile application. Until this expansion, the service remained exclusive to paying subscribers of the One Medical app.
The company is implementing a phased deployment strategy. According to Amazon’s announcement, availability will progressively expand throughout the upcoming weeks until complete nationwide coverage is achieved.
Neither a Prime subscription nor a One Medical membership is required for basic access. The foundational features are completely free.
The Health AI platform addresses inquiries about symptoms and medications, interprets laboratory findings and medical documentation, and facilitates prescription refill management. Additionally, it schedules appointments and establishes connections with One Medical healthcare professionals through messaging, video conferencing, or face-to-face consultations.
Users may authorize the assistant to retrieve personal medical information, including clinical documentation, diagnostic records, and test results, via the Health Information Exchange network. The system can also incorporate relevant Amazon purchase data, such as blood pressure monitoring devices or nutritional supplements.
Prime Subscribers Receive Additional Benefits
Qualified U.S. Prime members gain access to five complimentary direct-message consultations with One Medical healthcare providers, addressing over 30 medical conditions. Coverage includes influenza, urinary tract infections, allergic reactions, gastroesophageal reflux, erectile dysfunction, and dermatological concerns. Amazon estimates this benefit at up to $145 in value.
These consultations extend to household members via Amazon Family sharing. The benefit also applies to Prime for Young Adults and Prime Access subscription tiers.
Beyond the promotional offering, individual provider consultations through One Medical Pay-per-visit are priced at $29. A complete One Medical annual membership costs Prime members $99, compared to the standard $199 rate.
Technical Infrastructure and Design
The Health AI operates on Amazon Bedrock’s infrastructure. The architecture employs a multi-agent framework—a primary agent conducts patient interactions, while specialized sub-agents execute specific functions such as prescription processing or appointment coordination. Supervisory auditor and sentinel agents continuously monitor all exchanges and can escalate situations to human medical professionals when circumstances warrant.
Amazon developed the technology in collaboration with clinical leadership at One Medical. Prior to public release, the medical team conducted extensive testing using simulated conversations that evaluated safety protocols, emergency response capabilities, and regulatory compliance. The company maintains that Health AI must demonstrate clinician-level or superior performance on safety-critical judgments before deployment.
All user interactions occur within a HIPAA-compliant framework. Amazon explicitly states it does not utilize protected health information for general advertising purposes and does not commercialize customer data.
The assistant is not intended to independently diagnose conditions or formulate treatment strategies. When situations involve complexity or require professional medical judgment, it facilitates connections with qualified providers.
Amazon One Medical maintains collaborative partnerships with Rush University System for Health and Cleveland Clinic for specialized care referrals.
The Health AI assistant initially debuted in January 2026 as an exclusive feature for One Medical members, generating favorable feedback from both patients and medical providers, according to Amazon’s reports.
