The company temporarily halted acquisitions between March 23 and March 29. This break interrupted a 13-week consecutive purchasing streak. Prior to the pause, Strategy revealed a transaction involving 1,031 BTC valued at approximately $77 million on March 23, 2026.
Firm Pursues 1 Million Bitcoin Goal by End of 2026
Throughout March, Strategy accumulated over 45,000 BTC. The company secured 22,337 BTC for approximately $1.57 billion during the March 9–15 period. An additional 17,994 BTC were obtained earlier that month for roughly $1.28 billion.
During the first quarter of 2026, Strategy has acquired 89,602 BTC valued at around $7.25 billion. This amount accounts for approximately 40% of total Bitcoin purchases made throughout 2025. By comparison, other publicly traded companies collectively acquired about 1,000 BTC during a recent 30-day window.
Strategy finances these acquisitions through at-the-market equity programs and perpetual preferred share offerings. The company issues common stock trading under the MSTR ticker and offers “Stretch” perpetual preferred instruments. Late March announcements detailed plans to secure up to $42 billion through these mechanisms.
The firm subsequently increased its equity issuance authorization to $44 billion. Strategy confirmed that funds raised will support additional Bitcoin acquisitions. The company established a milestone to accumulate 1 million Bitcoin before 2026 concludes.
Following a rebrand from MicroStrategy last year, Strategy controls approximately 65% of Bitcoin held by publicly traded corporations. The treasury represents the largest Bitcoin position among public companies. Regular SEC filings document ongoing purchase activity.
Saylor consistently downplays short-term price fluctuations in his communications. He positions Bitcoin as the optimal long-term reserve asset amid currency devaluation concerns. The recent filing verifies the acquisition of 4,871 BTC, updating total holdings to 766,970 Bitcoin.
