For us, this lack of payment facilities is enough to make it a deal-killer. We could accept it if there were functionality to add payment processors to your store using apps. However, you don’t get that opportunity, and we feel it’s leaving money on the table offering limited payment solutions.
In comparison, Shopify leaves Squarespace standing in the dust. Shopify supports all the major payment gateways, including credit and debit cards. However, if you want to use a third-party payment processor, you need to pay an additional processing fee of 2%.
To reduce this fee, you can migrate your Shopify account to the Advanced Shopify plan, where you only must pay a 1.3% charge of third-party payment processing.
The only way to get rid of this transaction fee is to use the in-house payment platform provided by Shopify. “Shopify Payments” doesn’t charge you any transaction fees if you offer it to your customers.
To add any payment processor you like, visit the app store. You also have options for downloading trust badges from the app store as well. Trust badges are an essential part of building confidence in your customers during the checkout process.
